Beauty is in the eye of the snake holder…

Soooooooooo, I’ve been noticing that in the blog lots of pictures I post are of the same animals and I know why, it’s because they are the ones I like the most. And I’m thinking that’s not really fair to you guys, so today I’m going to try my best to focus on some of the animals that aren’t my personal favorites, and not for any particular reason, but may be your favorites. Some of the animals that I think are the prettiest or most interesting might not appeal to you, so I wanna be fair to everyone who reads and checks this thing out, and please feel free to let me know that if you want a picture of something specific I can try and do that too! Just send me a comment! BRB… here goes!

Example 1.... I dont like iguanas personally, but lots of people do, so... here ya go! An albino iguana named Sonny!

The Sounds of Silence

In the mornings when I get to the Zoo it is quiet and comfortable the nocturnal animals aren’t quite done with their overnight activities yet and I can walk by every cage and see what they have been doing all night. The snakes are usually crazy active and all I can hear is an occasional hiss or flutter of leaves as something runs through their cage to sound the alarm. “The people are here, the people are here!” is what I imagine them to say as they all move into their hides so that I can’t see how awesome they actually are. Clever little devils that they are The calm in the morning is my favorite time of the day here, it’s when I get to listen and watch, and play with things I probably shouldn’t, haha, kinda like a meditation of sorts. A meditation with nature! That makes my day happy!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand then the doors open and the kids come in!!! They are excited and loud and their eyes are wild with energy! I love it! They are like a lightening rod of happiness screaming through the front entrance. Their laughs and squeals are powerful enough to run this whole building for a month I think… Anyways, enough meditation, I feel very lucky that I get to come and touch these wonderful creatures every morning in the silence, but equally as lucky that I get to share that joy with a Zoo full of kids and hopefully, make some sort of difference in their life!
Here they come now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS--the last pic is a blurry one of me and my gator in Florida! Just throwing that in becasue I love him, and we might have one here soon! Don't miss out!

Playing with the Borneo Bat Eater.

Hey guys!

Today was a crazy day! Jurassic Parties everywhere, Tim Nishio, Carol & Greg were all out on parties and I even did an in-store party myself! We have crickets that got delivered today and since they have been hard to come by lately we were all very happy about that! The most exciting thing that happened all day was that we got a whole new bunch of crested geckos that we have for sale! They are babies and they are beautiful! The whole store was full of screaming happy kids and animals following suit.

If you haven’t been by the Reptile Zoo lately you are totally missing out! It’s so much fun here! Come play with us! And if you have any questions, comments, etc… feel free to comment or send me a message! Gotta run now and go play with some snakes……. Yeeeeeehaaaaa!

Bites & Bateaters & Blogs....

Live and in person from The Reptile Zoo this morning and man what a day it has been already! My favorite mangrove snake, in the one really close to my face decided to take a bite of me today! Yikes!!!! I have video footage to follow but we are working on a few things right now so there's a tad bit of a delay.

By the way, I’m Savannah and I’m super excited to be here at The Reptile Zoo! I came a long way from Florida and all those alligators to get to Fountain Valley, California and hopefully we will have an alligator here soon too! Until then I’m going to spend my days playing with this Borneo Bateater named Benji, he's my new shop pet and I love him.

We have changed so much here in the past year and if you haven’t been down to see it you are for sure missing out! A clutch of chameleons hatched yesterday, a crested gecko laid her first two eggs yesterday, and Jay even let me pull my first clutch from a ball python momma this morning, it was so cool! We have video footage of that coming soon. I can’t wait til they hatch… who knew that working with reptiles could be so fun?

The more I am here the more I get to learn the personalities and eccentricities of the reptile world and I’m not just talking about the animals, it’s all so amazing! Everyone that works here has a specialty and a wealth of knowledge about things that I didn’t even know existed until recently, and I learn new things every day. Hopefully through this blog I can share some of the fun and experience with you guys!

Gotta run now, Greg's about to do a party and it's going to be fun, see you guys soon!

And now for the photos…………………..
