And They're Off... to AFRICA!

We've been working for weeks to prep, but the day is finally here. Founder, Jay Brewer, is headed to South Africa for a THREE WEEK adventure full of reptiles and of course great safari adventures.

This year's team includes of course Jay who will be up close and personal with all of the great finds. The lead videographer will be Sean, who has plenty of experience helping our team over the years, and has just started to manage all of our video and web content. Ron will be the back-up videographer and photographer, and also happens to be part of the family.

He visited first in 2010, but this year he is taking a whole team to make sure everyone at home can share in the African adventures through photos on our Facebook page and YouTube videos. Just check out how much luggage these guys are taking! They crammed just about all of their clothes into the carry-ons then used the other suitcases for filming and safari supplies.

We'll be posting more details about their trip, including how you can meet them if you happen to be in South Africa on the blog tomorrow. Until then hopefully this footage from Prehistoric's last trip will hold you over!

Photoshoot Elements

Ever wonder what it goes into a professional photoshoot? You may think it's the photographer, but the number one thing you must have is A LOT of teamwork.

Photoshoots involve a great photographer, a leader with a vision of what pictures you need, patient models, and a good team ready to help all of these people. Not to say photoshoots aren't fun, especially when you are photographing kids and animals there are bound to be plenty of hilarious moments when one of the two are bound to have a silly moment.

Luckily we have a great team of friends ready and willing to help us get the best shots possible. Our go to photographer and long-time friend is Mike Walker who not only captures great shots, but loves reptiles too. We love his shots so much he'll be travelling with founder Jay Brewer on his trip this summer to Australia to capture their experiences!

We are also so lucky to have plenty of friends willing to donate their time and act as our models.

One of our favorite parts of a photoshoot are the behind the scenes moments that don't make it to the final cut or out to the public, but today we are going to share just a few so we can have a chance to thank all of those who have worked behinds the scenes making some of our best shots possible.

BLACK FRIDAY is coming to an end.

Today has been one of our longer days here at Prehistoric Pets, but it's not over yet! You would think after 12 hours the team here would be exhausted and grumpy, but today was filled with so many sales they haven't had a chance to get tired. One of us is even bringing home our own BLACK FRIDAY pet!

For our first every BLACK FRIDAY it's been a good day, but if you haven't sent in your deal requests to info@prehistoricpets.com you've still got a couple hours to get in on the deals! And if you have sent in a request, as you will see below, Garrett has been working absolutely non-stop since 6AM to get back to each and one of you. If he doesn't get a chance to respond tonight he will also be working at it all day tomorrow, as a wise fan said today "patience leads to success."

These are some of our 12 hour faces.
