If that wasn't enough to keep guests entertained we also had LIVE exotic animal demonstrations with veteran TV and Film trainer Jules Sylvester and The Reptile Zoo founder Jay Brewer where guests enjoyed learning about various venomous species and even got a chance to watch a clutch of pythons be born and filmed for the popular YouTube channel www.YouTube.com/PrehistoricPetsTV

To satisfy their taste buds GarlicScapes was on hand with plenty of good eats sure to keep the lurking vampires away. Let's just say fun was had by all.

But enough reminiscing, this year we are going to blow last year out of the water with all the great things we have planned for what we expect to be a MASSIVE crowd! First of all we've doubled our food truck capacity by bringing the ever popular Kogi BBQ and Chunk-n-Chip trucks to delight both your dinner and dessert needs.

Pinterest Worthy Party

Just check out how amazing these deorations are! We were blown away when super organized and creative mom Michel's decor at Riley's Jurassic Party in The Reptile Zoo.

Every detail was dealt with impeccably including brightly colored decor that perfectly balanced the already present jungle themed bamboo and leaf decor.

She also incorporated some of the great options we have on our Prehistoric.com party supply website including our ever popular wooden wiggle snakes. Which depending on the quantity you would like can cost as low as $1 each.

At the end of the day fun was had by all from the yummy snacks to exciting hands-on reptile presentation, with hand sanitation between of course! We love sharing photos from our fans. If you've had a Jurassic Party just send your photos to feedback@jurassicparties.com and we'll feature them here on The Reptile Zoo blog or directly on our Facebook page.

Hidden Treasures

Today, here at The Reptile Zoo, we found a precious treasure. Hidden and protected beneath a water bowl, we found a Caledonian Giant Gecko egg. These fun creatures are known as Giant Geckos because of their size. They’re the largest species of gecko living today, growing to be approximately 17 inches in length.

However, they’re eggs are not as such. Caledonian eggs are about the size of a small peanut; they’re white and look a bit wrinkled because of the warm and humid environment. We’re so excited to meet our new friend in approximately 3-5 months.

He or she will crawl and strength out of their shell and enter into their home – The Reptile Zoo. Come check out all of our fun friends! You might get lucky and find a hidden treasure, too!

30 Second Q & A

Here at the Reptile Zoo we are asked a lot of great questions about our animals so we thought we would answer 3 of the most common questions in under 30 seconds. Ready... set... go!

Many of you know Frank aka Kipling, our FAMOUS Asian Water Monitor. Just like people, Water Monitors like to go swimming. They are great swimmers, in fact, and love to splish-splash in their pool! Their lateral tails make it easier for them to glide through the water and practice some aerobics with their turtle friends. Here one of our big guys even looks a little like the Lockness Monster while he enjoys a quick dip.

When entering our store there is a friendly pond full of turtles. These cute, little guys love the attention from all of you – our valued friends and customers! All of these turtles have been rescued from the outside world and are brought here to a happy and comfy home where they are hand fed delicious worms. So come check out our turtle pond! As you can see, they love hanging around, and on, their friends!

Our baby African Spur Thigh tortoises are adorable as tiny, hungry hippos! Able to fit in the palm of your hand, they love munching on some nice, healthy lettuce. You can also come and see how big out little guys can get, by checking out our over 200lb full-grown adults lounging around our store! And they don't get that big by accident as you can see even this little guys has got food all over his face from his last chow down.

Thats it! How'd we do on timing? Check back soon for another 30 Second Q & A and all other things prehistoric at blog.thereptilezoo.com

Fall is here and so are some of the best Pumpkin Patches around, packed to the brim with fun activities for all! A place for families, friends, or even a date night, this atmosphere is the bee's knees.

For the first time ever we are bringing our mobile Reptile Zoo to the pumpkin patch to add to the spooky fun. You can find us and all of our reptile friends in both Fountain Valley and La Habra at Santa's Garden pumpkin patch.

These pumpkin patches advertises huge, inflatable slides, bounce houses, fire engine train rides and more! You can slide down the Tiger's Mouth or swoosh down the Ship under an Octopus Attack.

But this year's fashion is to have a live, 10 foot snake wrapped around your body, offering a big smile with you in a forever-memorable picture!

As you can see, we have a pen set up for our African spurred tortoises, which you can feed for just three tickets! You can also see we have a full sized iguana, two monitor lizards, and a pancake tortoise.

We also have a rock python, yellow footed tortoises, reticulated pythons and a two hundred and fifty pound reticulated python.

We have lots of other animals set up with an adorable pumpkin theme.

Come see reptiles from around the globe, hold pythons, skinks, and even a scorpion (if you're feeling adventurous).  So come stop by our scenic and fantastic pumpkin patch and start your October with smiles, laughs, and memories.

It's Been a Month Already?!?!?!

I can't believe it either, but it has already been a month since our last day at the OC Fair! It seems like just yesterday we were enjoying the crowds and the smells of Juicy's right across the way.

We had such a blast this year sharing our reptiles with HUNDREDS THOUSANDS of happy families enjoying a day out together. Our team spent so much time together they became like family sharing the ups and downs of 12+ hours of fair time fun a day! As you can see from the photos at times we might have gone a little loopy, but every family has a crazy one or two right?

While you are at the Orange County Fair nothing says family bonding time like getting wrapped up by a HUGE burmese python! And this year we literaly THOUSANDS of families enjoy this hands-on fun.

Thanks to the wonders of technology for the first time they even had the opportunity to share the squeal inducing photos with friends and family through our complimentary Facebook download service! Each night we added every photo an album on The Reptile Zoo Facebook then it was the guests turn to tag, comment, like, and download their shots.

Hopefully all of our brave visitors have gotten a chance to like, share, and tag their photos with our lovely burmese pythons. Because on Monday to make room for even more great hands-on photos in the future we will be removing many of the photos.

To keep your photo from being removed make sure to stop by our photo albums to like, tag and download and we will be sure to keep you as a permanent part of The Reptile Zoo memories from 2012! Otherwise unclaimed photos will be removed to make room for the great events we have planned next!

We are excited to see who shows up to visit the Prehistoric Pets booth at NARBC this weekend (we've heard its a reptile loving celebrity hotspot!) To find out more information about how you can attend the show be sure to visit http://www.narbc.com/Anaheim/anaheim.html
